Mangoes For Harleys

Yup, you heard right. In 2007 a deal was struck between the Indian government and the United Sates to, get this... trade mangoes for Harleys.

And that day has arrived, the bikes will make their debut in India in early 2010. At the Auto Expo in India 01/06/2010, H-D announced that it will send 12 of it's bikes from it's extensive line-up to the Indian nation.

Which ones you ask... well, here they are.

Sportster:

XL 883L SPORTSTER
XL 1200N NIGHTSTER
XL 883R ROADSTER
XR 1200X

Dyna:

FXDB STREET BOB
FXDC SUPER GLIDE CUSTOM

VRSC: VRSCDX Night Rod Special

Softail:

FLSTF FAT BOY
FLSTC HERITAGE SOFTAIL CLASSIC

Touring:

FLHR ROAD KING
FLHX STREET GLIDE
FLHTCUSE ULTRA CLASSIC ELECTRA GLIDE ( CVO )

It's a huge market, as you can see sales have been over 6 million units annually for a number of years.

Here's an interview with the dude who made the deal possible. And if you'd like info here's Harley's India website.

I can't imagine a Street Glide stuck in amongst all these vehicles during the mid-day, tropical heat in rush hour. Can you say overheating issues.

Hey who knows... one day, there just might be a hog on a Hog.
